Ahhhh Trinidad. What a story here. The old depressed mining town ends up with one of the best parks in the country. Trinidad the town is so old that the roads were too fucked up to even street skate. I couldnt even imagine how they end up with a park like this. While I was there this lady that had a lot to do with getting the park filled me in a little bit. So there were two kids in this town that skated. Since the roads were all messed up they went to some of the towns folk to inquire about

a skatepark. A couple adults got behind the idea and then a bunch more kids did too. They found out that in Colorado the Lottery benefits the parks and recreations department and the state kicked them some money. The city looked for someone to build them a park and everyone kept turning them down. That is until they contacted Grindline. Grindline accepted the offer and shot them a design. The city approved it and then went on and told them: "you know what, build whatever you want." Once Grindline heard this they decided they would build the park even bigger if the city would just cover the cost of materials. Well, they rounded up a bunch more money and here is what they got.

This place is huge! I think a good way to describe it would be "A modern day snake run." There are so many turns and changes in level that you almost feel like you are riding a roller coaster. All the walls are different, some mellow, some vert, some with hips, some with sideways pump bumps? Its awesome. Perfect waterfalls to and wierd hips that only stick out at the coping so you can carve underthem if you do have the speed to go over. As soon as you get there, the first thing you see

are these two half moon, taco whatever things sticking up. Right there you know this is going to be different. Turns out, that whole low area where the moons are, was orginally going to be a street course but grindline changed it once they were given the go ahead to do whatever they wanted. The moon that inside the course has some oververt wich makes for some nice speed carves as you make that first sharp turn. You can air over the taco if thats your thing, since they paved behind it. Once you make that turn you are still going down hill and increasing speed. Once you get to the corner you have a nice 4 foot wall with a foot of vert to help you contain that speed and throw you down the next waterfall into the deeper sections. Once you get into the this section you have insane speed and are

greeted by nice 8ft walls. There might be a little too much flat wall in this section but you wont notice unless you are picky. There is a sick pumpbump in the middle to increase speed to get through the taller corners. Once you are done here there is one more bigger sections to enter. This is about 10ft tall with some vert and over vert. 4 more corners and a nice wide channel to air over if you are so inclined. There are plenty of big transfers in this park too. I can see this place getting destroyed by

heavy hitters yet its still easy to ride if your not. This is just a incredible park. I dont think I even needed to write all this and you would get the point by just looking at the photos. Oh yeah this place is free and you dont have to wear pads! Its about 3 hours from denver and albuquerque so if you are anywhere near those cities you better just go make the drive and see what I am talking about.
