PALAROUND: Wow! I kind of hate knowing places like this exist. Mainly because they are always no where close to where I reside. This is a total permission pool. You can skate it whenever you want 24/7. Bring lights and session at night, bring beer, cook out, whatever. Just keep the place clean and respect the property. It's located on a closed down dairy farm, behind a row of abandoned homes. The pool was filled in when people first started skating it.

Skaters dug it back out and started sessioning it again. Eventually a confrontation with the property owner took place and a deal was struck to let people continue to skate this beautiful beast. As long as the place wasnt vandalized and people cleaned up after themselves everything was cool. Oh and you are not allowed to dig up the square pool next door either. I wish I knew who it was that talked the owner into this because I want to shake his hand and hear the story first hand.

The pool is so blown up now that a Neil Heddings benefit contest took place there. Some locals even call it a skatepark because its likely that no matter when you show up, a session will already be going down. Two of the times I skated pala it was early in the morning and I had it all to myself. Nobody showed up until I left around 10am. I guess a lot of people are over the pool because its so blown out. There are signs up all over the place letting everyone know what the deal is and everyone seems to have kept thier part. The place is taken care of. I didnt see any trash and there was new coping put in a section of the lowend. One thing that really shocked me and really lets you know how good you have it here is the fact that the house has running water. A hose is hooked up to the spicket in the back. There is also an apple and a pear tree on the property so in the fall you can have some fruit and water.

The pool itself is nearly perfect. It is better then a lot of park built pools. Its a right hand kidney with a deathbox and love seat to the left of the light. Its around 4ft - 5ft in the low and 8ft - 9ft in the deep. Perfect trannies all the way around with maybe just less then a foot of vert in the deepend. The lowend tranny is nice and grinds are pretty attainable. The coping is nice lady finger style except for a patch in the lowend before the hip that has been replaced with some sort of planter stone.

The deathbox is an easy hit and it wouldnt take too much to combo the box and the light. Airs over the love seat seem pretty reasonable aswell. The only thing the pool is lacking is stairs you can carve over. Regardless, this is easily one of the best pools I have skated or will ever skate for that matter.
