For those that dont know, Kona is one of the oldest skateparks in the country. Located in Jacksonville, Florida, it was built in the 70's and lots of its OG terrain is still here. Thankfully they have added on over the years to make the park more modern. A big street course and HUGE vert ramp are among the things that made there way into the park. Dont worry old timers, the cement half pipe is still there for ya. Overall I would say this parks main draw is the nostalgia factor and the vert ramp. As

usual, my main draw was the pool. I have heard that it was built by an actual pool company and it shows. Now this is not a bad thing. It makes it a lot more like a real pool. The trannys are inconsistent and there are some kinks in the plaster but its still fun as hell. The cement coping is part of the deck and it doesnt sit very far out but it still has a sick grind. The lowend is pretty burly and probably has some vert. Its 4 or 5 ft deep in the low with a sketchy channel and about 9 or 10 in the deep.

Even though I like the bowl the best. The old snake runs and bowls are probably the most fun. The big snake run is super fast and nice and smooth. You seriously haul ass without even trying and hell if thats not fast enough, there is a big rollin at the top. The snakerun has 3 turns and high banked walls to absorb your speed. It emptys out into a resevoir with a tombstone extention. There is another snakerun called the J that shows it age more. It gets its name after is shape. Its not painted and its surface has more cracks. Its emptys out into a sketchy bowl that backs up to the pool. The big walls of this bowl are pretty messed up but you can make it through. Hell, you can transfer out into the deepend of the pool if you got it like that. The freestyle area is still there and so is the big bowl. The

big bowl is a lot of fun for a few minutes. The 5 foot tombstone is kind of sketchy where it meets the tranny but its not the big a deal. Overall this is fun park. Its kind of expensive but not as bad as vans. You only have to wear a helmet. Kona is the type of park everyone should go to atleast once and is worth stopping at if you are in the area. With all the new parks popping up in FLA its not really worth planning your trip around anymore.
